Harold Robinson - Third-Generation Steelworker and Lifelong Gary Resident

How can we make it a safer, greener environment where everyone can live comfortably, without the issues and dangers this industry brings?

Harold Robinson was born and raised in Gary. His grandfather and father were steelworkers before him, and steel gave his family everything: "a roof over our head, money in our pocket, food in our stomach... it meant life for us."

But that same work has cost his family, too. “I've actually had some uncles, great uncles that actually died from cancer and black lung back in the day."

He wonders how the steel industry will change: "How is it going to benefit the community? How can we make it a safer, greener environment for everyone to live comfortably and without any issues or dangers that come with this industry?"

He sees "a very bright future for Gary" ahead and believes the community has everything it needs to succeed and thrive, thanks to "people like us, trying to make things better in that industry and in the community."
