Tyrell Anderson - Operational Excellence Engineer, U.S. Steel; President and Founder, Decay Devils

Gary is a blank canvas, but it could be a masterpiece.

A third-generation USS worker, Tyrell grew up on 3rd and Jefferson, watching blast furnace flares light up his childhood window.

“Sparks from the metal being poured into the furnace — that’s something you’ll never forget.”

Now 16 years into his career at the plant, Tyrell credits his grandmother’s mill experience with helping set his family on a path to success. He believes Gary can thrive too, but only with the leadership and investment to turn its potential into something fruitful.

The mill meant stability to his family. For him, the future of Gary begins with “forward thinking. We have to not forget our past, don’t get me wrong, but we have to think about what’s next and figure out how to make that vision a reality.”
